Dry Skin? How should I deal with it?

Moisture is very important for your skin! Nearly everyone would hear this from a skincare consultant or seller. I can still hear the SoImJenn special voice in saying "MOISTURHHH" in my mind after watching her Interesting Youtube Video while writing this.

Many people would thought their skin are considered dry skin if they do not have acne issues. But the truth is, this is not the case. Some of the lucky beauties are gifted with combination skin. People with combination skin basically have flawless skin.

But for Dry Skin, it's a different case. So what is a dry skin? How do you differ?

Characteristics of Dry Skin

You will constantly have a tighten and tingly feels on your skin.

This is basically the first stage when your skin is too dry. If you are having this problem now as you read, you would really need to rush a moisturizer slap on your face as this stage can gradually make your skin from dry skin to sensitive skin.

You will find your skin starts to have peels and you may encounter itchiness.

At this stage of dry skin, you would already have developed fine lines around your face and may have red rashes. This is a very delicate stage as your skin may already became sensitive skin at this stage. Hence, it is a stage where you will need a complete regimen on giving your skin a good pampering skincare set and also water spa treatment. If not your skin will worsen all kinds of nightmares will come to you with not just peeling but wrinkles, freckles, pigmentation, and dullness of skin(darkening of skin tone).

You will find your skin starts to pop out a lot of acne but you do not find oiliness on your skin.

That's right, you heard me, Acne. Yes! Dry skin can induce acne breakouts as our skin would send a signal to our brain that they they are too dry and thus, brain would try to regulate our hormones to release more sebum to our skin. But during this time, our skin are not healthy enough to maintain a good oil-balance or distribute the sebum evenly around our face. Which in the end, you would have acne breakouts.

Your skin feel coarse, saggy and the texture is not elastic and supple.

You may want to caress and your skin or feel your face now. One easy way is to press the skin on your jawline. If your skin bounce back slow and you can feel your skin is sagging down then you might want to check in some skincare to your skin now. There's a reason why all the advertisements mention about bouncy skin!

Alright.. enough with the talking and blabbering about dry skin. So..

What kind of skincare should you use to rescue your skin?

Non-foamy Cleanser

What? Non-foamy cleanser? How am I supposed to get a clean skin then? Let me tell you one secret. Foams are actually not indispensable in your cleanser. Yes, foams do help in giving a more thorough cleaning. However, for dry skin, it is not advisable as our skin will release sebum naturally to lock in the moisture our body provides to the skin. If you wash away too much of the sebum released, you will make your skin too dry.

Hydrating agents in your skincare

Isn't moisturizer a hydrating agent for our skin? Let me answer to your question, yes, moisturizer do help to hydrate our skin, but actually, moisturizers are more on locking the moisture in our skin. Thus, before applying our moisturizer, it is advisable to apply skin supplements like hydrating gel or cream. Try to pick a hydrating gel or cream that has glycerin, an emollient that has high affinity by water. Glycerin can help to absorb moisture from the inner layer of our skin to the surface and thus, hydrating.

Layers of Skin

Choose skincare that does not have alcohol in it.

Alcohol can be found in many skincare products especially in toners. However, for dry skin users, you are NOT ALLOWED to use skincare with alcohol. Alcohol can make your skin even dryer if you use it. Hence, try to look for a freshener or skin softener instead of toner. This small little change will make your skin thank you every day.
